About

Designer. Thinker. Detail obsessive.

I'm Daniel Szilagyi, an award-winning UX/UI designer with 10+ years of experience and a habit of asking “but why does it work that way?” before touching a single pixel.

Over the past decade I've designed across gaming, mobile, SaaS, medical, entertainment, B2B, and web platforms, for companies ranging from pre-seed startups to Fortune 500s, including Cisco, ADP, Accenture, and Microsoft (you may know a little game called Halo). That range isn't an accident. I genuinely love the variety, and I think it makes me a sharper designer.

My approach tends to zoom out before zooming in. I want to understand the business, the users, and the design landscape holistically before going deep on details, edge cases, and the kind of interactions that feel obvious in hindsight but take real thought to get right. I care equally about how something works and how it looks. Beautiful and functional aren't a tradeoff to me.

I'm a proud member of the RGD, a Vancouver UX Awards finalist, fluent in both English and Hungarian, and open to full-time, contract, and consulting roles.

When I'm not in a design file, I'm reading, keeping up with animation, comics, and design culture, or spending time with my wife, who has heard more about design systems than any non-designer should have to endure.
